Troops assist to put out Kandy building inferno

A fire that broke out in a multi-storied commercial building in Kandy city was put out with the assistance of Army troops, yesterday morning (08). According to Army media, a group of Army personnel of 2 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) in Kandy had arrived at the scene within a short time of being informed of the inferno and had rendered assistance to firefighting and rescue teams to contain the spread of the fire to adjacent buildings.

The four storied building at the busy Yatinuwara Veediya in Kandy had caught fire yesterday morning. Luckily, a family trapped in the ill-fated building was evacuated with the assistance of those involved in the firefighting operation.
