Troops conduct 'Shramadana' programmes in Kilinochchi

[July 04 2018]

The Ganeshapuram irrigation canal, which feeds water to a large number of paddy land in the region was cleared during a 'Sharamadana' (self-help) programme conducted during weekend (30 Saturday). A large number of troops under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi, (SFHQ-KLN) joined hands with the local farming community to make this programme a success.

The Ganeshapuram canal is fed by the Iranamadu tank. It can be considered as a lifeline of the mostly agro based economy of the area. Troops made their contribution to the 'Sharamadana' as a part of their community outreach projects.

Meanwhile, several other community welfare programmes were also carried out by the troops in Kilinochchi. A Shramadana campaign was also conducted to clean the Kariyalanagapadduvan canal. In another such programme troops got together to clean the Akkarayankulam Pulliyar Kovil premises and its surroundings.
