Troops engage in relief activities

Responding to the emergency relief activities in the backdrop of the prevailing adverse conditions, Army troops have been rushed to badly affected areas to carryout relief activities.

Hundreds of Army personnel in coordination with members of sister services, Police, Disaster Management Centre (DMC) officials and state officials are currently engaged in clearing, evacuation and rescue operations in areas badly affected by the cyclonic weather condition that hit several provinces in the island, yesterday (30th November).

According to Army media sources, troops of the Security Forces Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) and the SFHQ-Central together with other relief aid workers are providing required assistance in Colombo, Gampaha, Badulla, Ratnapura, Galle, Kalutara, Moneragala, Nuwaraeliya, Hambanthota and and Matara Districts.

Troops are also engaged in clearing roads which remained obstructed with fallen trees, branches and earth slips.
