Two fishermen saved in the Southern seas

[June 11 2018]

Two fishermen who were adrift in the Southern seas after their boat developed engine trouble were safely rescued by a Sri Lanka Navy team on patrol. According to Navy media, the two fishermen had left the fisheries harbor in Tangalle for fishing on Friday (08). Into the journey, the fishing boat had developed an engine failure and had begun to drift in the sea off Hambantota in the Southern tip of the island.

Upon being informed of the two fishermen in distress, the Sri Lanka Navy had dispatched a Fast Attack Craft (FAC) for the rescue mission. The FAC was able to locate the ill-fated boat and the fishermen about 8 nautical miles off the Great Basses Lighthouse.

Later, the two fishermen were safely brought ashore to the Hambantota harbor and handed over to their relatives.
