people have lost their lives
while one person is reported
Incessant rains have affected over 138,200 people
(35,129 families) while approximately, 13,199 families have been
relocated into 231 welfare centres in 10 Districts.
Access to Kaduwela main bridge towards Biyagama road,
which was closed due to damages caused by erosion of the side wall of
the bridge has now been restored.
The Bund of the Bingiriya tank has been damaged and
the Ja-Ela to Bowatta road is blocked due to erosion in the Uruwal
canal, roads in Malwana are also inundated.
At present Rajanganaya, Tabbowa and Daduru Oya have
passed the spill level and are spilling. Boraluwewa in Kobeigane is at
spilling level and tank bund was cleared to drain excess water.
So far 64 houses have been reported completely damaged
while over 3840 houses are partly damaged.
Rescue efforts launched by security forces teams are
still actively involved in providing assistance to affected communities.
These rescue and relief teams, working round the clock
braving harsh conditions have managed to save many lives.
