Objective of the "Ranaviru Doo Daru Scholarship Programme"

The "Ranaviru Dudaru Scholarship Programme" is a project initiated to provide financial support for the education of needy children of the deceased/disabled personnel of Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and Civil Defence Force. The aim of the project is to ensure a bright future for the children whose parents had made great sacrifices for the nation.

The Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Ministry of Defence , implements the project under the patronage of Chairperson Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa.

"Everyone was at home with their children and families while the Security Forces were fighting in the battlefield to liberate our nation, leaving their families behind. Some of them sacrificed their lives and some others were disabled in action. Without them our children could not have a country free of terrorism. Therefore, it is the duty of all citizens to look after the war heroes' children considering them as their own children,"

- Gotabaya Rajapaksa
