Children of war heroes were awarded with scholarships by H.E the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees

Housing Project

The Defence Ministry Seva Vanitha Unit which has initiated numerous projects for the welfare of war heroes donated a newly constructed house to a wife of a war hero who sacrificed his life for defending the motherland.

The Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit which has initiated numerous projects for the welfare of the war heroes, marks the completion of another housing project on 11th August.


 Secretary Defense Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa handed over a new house built in Ensalwatta-Deniyaya to the parents of L/cpl D D R Pushpa Kumara who sacrificed his life for the country on 23 November 2008 in Killinochchi area  (19th  June 2009)


The MOD Seva Vanitha Unit under the directives of its Chairperson Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa has made preparations to construct a house for disabled war hero, Private A.P.T Sampath Kumara at Thutiripitigama, Kobaigene (04th June 2009).


Defence Ministry's Seva Vanith Unit (SVU) has made a donation for a disabled war hero as a financial assistance to build his own house (30th April 2009).

National Cadet Corps Seva Vanitha Branch donates money to make a house for a war hero


Five wheel chairs, thirty arms clutches and twenty double arms clutches were donated to the MOD Seva Vanitha Unit to be distributed among disabled war heroes by Mr and Mrs. Wijesinghe Thursday (12th March 2009)


Ananda college Old Anandian's 97 group has donated medical equipments and a few other items for the use of war heroes yesterday.  (24 February 2009)


The Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Ministry of Defence yesterday (Feb 10) donated a wheelchair to seven-year-old Naduni Imalka, the only child of a soldier with born disability. (10 Feb 2009)


Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) donated a three-wheeler to Private Tissa Kumara, of the Gemunu Watch(GW) who has sacrificed his limbs to defend the motherland while serving in the battlefront. (10 Feb 2009)


Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit donated four three-wheelers to the war heroes who have sacrificed their limbs to defend the motherland while serving in the battlefront.  (05 February 2009).


A special ceremony was held at the Ministry of Defence premises to handover loans to the members of the Seva Vanitha Unit this evening (05 February 2009).


"It is the main duty of the Ministry of Defence, to look after the well being and uplift the necessities of the brave soldiers who work tirelessly to defend and protect the territorial integrity of the country", stated Secretary of Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa.  15 January, 2009

The Sri Lanka Daegu Welfare Society in South Korea collaborating with Seva Vanitha Unit of Defence Ministry have donated wheelchairs for the war heroes - 31st October.
