A group of Russian delegates including Dr. Evegeny Usachev, a Russian Scientist met the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General SHS Kottegoda WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc at the Ministry on Tuesday (27th August).
Zambian Defence Advisor meets Secretary
The Defence Advisor of the High Commission of the Republic of Zambia in New Delhi accredited to Sri Lanka, Brigadier General Stephen SIMUSANDU made a courtesy call on the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Shantha Kottegoda (Rtd), WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc at the Ministry on Tuesday (27th August).
10th “Exercise Cormorant Strike” to commence next week
The joint mega Tri-Services Field Training Exercise (FTX), “Exercise Cormorant Strike X – 2019” is scheduled to commence next week (03rd September). This was revealed at the press briefing held last evening at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo to announce of the Colombo Defence Seminar.
Sri Lankan and Indian Coast Guards hold High Level Meeting in New Delhi
The 4th annual High Level Meeting (HLM) between the Sri Lankan Coast Guard (SLCG) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) was held in India, recently. According to SLCG media, The HLM was held at the Indian Coast Guard Headquarters in New Delhi on 20th August (2019).
“9th Colombo Defence Seminar” on Thursday
The flagship annual international seminar of the Sri Lanka Army, ‘Colombo Defence Seminar - 2019’ will begin on Thursday (29th August). The two-day conference being held for the 9th consecutive year, will be begin at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.

Two ships of the Sri Lanka Navy left the country for ports in Bangladesh and Myanmar on training missions.
Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage new Army Chief of Staff
Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army. According to Army media, he is the 54th Chief of Staff of the Army.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva was appointed as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Army today (19).
23.5 More Acres Used by the Army Released to Kilinochchi District Secretariat
Kilinochchi troops in another gesture of goodwill and reconciliation took steps to release a land patch of 23.05 acres including the buildings, owned by government permit holders in Krishnapuram, Kilinochchi during a simple ceremony on Thursday (15).

Colombo Defence Seminar- 2019 in August
The Colombo Defence Seminar- 2019 is to be held at the tail end of this month (August) in Colombo. According to Army media, the premier annual two-day international defence conference organized by the Sri Lanka Army will begin at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on the 29th morning and will conclude with the conclusion ceremony the next day (30).
