Fishing communities operating in southern seas to be vigilant - Met. Department

Issuing a marine weather forecast today morning (22), the Meteorology Department requests naval and fishing communities operating in deep and shallow seas off the southern coastline, from Galle to Pothuvil, to be vigilant since likely increase of wind speeds could be expected around 60 to 65 kmph.

Weather forecast also alerts, rainfalls and thundershowers may occur in several sea areas from Puttalam to Hambantota along the southern seas.

Meanwhile, temporarily strong and gusty winds about 70 to 80 kmph with very rough seas can also be expected during thundershowers.
