Plans are afoot to renovate Deegawapiya Stupa
October 17, 2020Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne held a discussion with Maha Sanga about the proposed renovations of sacred Deegawapiya Stupa at the Defence Ministry yesterday (Oct 16).
Venerable Maha Sanga including the Chief Prelate of Deegawapiya Temple Ven. Mahaoya Sobhitha thero, Chief Prelate of Sri Sambodhi Viharaya, Colombo Ven. Boralande Vajiragnana thero, Archaeology Department Commissioner General Prof. Senerath Dissanayake, Director General Civil Security Department Rear Admiral (Retd) Ananda Peiris, Architects, Surveyors, Defence Ministry Officials and Senior Military Officers were present at the discussion.
