Sri Lanka Urges Middle East to Maintain Peace

Foreign Relations Ministry states today that the Government is deeply concerned about growing tensions in the Middle East following the assassination of a senior Iranian leader Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, Iran’s top security and intelligence commander.
 
Issuing a statement Sri Lanka urges all parties to act with utmost restraint and maintain peace and security through constructive dialogue in order to
de-escalate the threat to the stability of the region. 
 
Maj.Gen.Suleimani was killed on last Friday in a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport, according to media reports.
