Terror group accomplice arrested
June 01, 2019An accomplice of the suicide bomber Zahran was taken into custody by police several days ago. The suspect named, Shahul Hameed Hamees Mohamed also known as Kalmunei Siyam alias Abu Hassan was arrested on 22nd (May). This was revealed by the police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara at a press briefing held at the Media Centre in Kollupitiya on Friday evening (31 May).
Investigations have revealed that he had found several safe houses used by the terror group in Kalmunei. The Sammanthurai safe house where some members of the terror group died in an explosion was one of the safe houses found by this suspect. A house in Sennal village in Sammanthurai and two other houses in Nintavur and Attalachchenai are the other safe house locations found by him.
Meanwhile, a laptop was recovered from the Palamunai lagoon on Friday (31). It is suspected the this laptop had been used by Zahran. Authorities are continuing with the investigations.
