Police bury those killed in Saithamaruthu incident

Police took measures to bury ten remains of those killed in the Sainthamaruthu suicide blast after completing investigations and post mortem procedures, on Thursday (02 May). These bodies were buried without any religious rituals being conducted after religious organizations in the region had informed and requested from authorities to that effect.

The bodies of the six children who were killed in the incident were buried after proper religious ritual were conducted. This was revealed by Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara at the press briefing held at the Media Centre in Kollupitiya, last evening (02 May).

Meanwhile, The elder sister of the suicide bomber Zahran had been arrested by the Batticalao Police on Wednesday (01). The Police was also able to recover two million rupees suspected to have been given to her by Zahran. Investigations are progressing successfully.

Security has been tightened while combined search operations are continuing around the country to arrest suspects and ensure public safety.
