Easter Sunday Commemoration to be held at home

Announcing the cancellation of all public commemoration ceremonies related to the Easter Sunday Attacks, Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said, it has been decided to conduct all commemoration events without public participation yesterday (16).  

While addressing the public at a media briefing, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said decision was taken to contain the spread of coronavirus in the island and therefore, programmes will be telecasted without any public participation.

Since many have victimised to the tragic incident, irrespective of religion, we expect the participation of every person in this commemoration, he said.  

Archbishop of Colombo requested all churches to ring their bells to signify this event at 8.40 am on April 21 and also requested all the temples to join the same. He also requested entire nation to commemorate all those who lost their lives while observing two minute silence afterwards (8.45am)

Cardinal also requested everyone to light a candle/lamp in a convenient place and to follow religious observances thereafter.
