All geared to commemorate War Heroes’ tomorrow

Arrangements are afoot to commemorate the heroic deeds of valiant war heroes who fought against the ruthless LTTE to liberate the motherland from the grip of terrorism and bring sustainable peace, at the National War Heroes’ Monument, Battaramulla, tomorrow (19).

The national ceremony to be graced by the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the Chief Guest, will be conducted in conformity to the healthcare guidelines with the participation of Prime Minister, President’s Secretary, Defence Secretary, Western Province Governor, Admiral of the Fleet, Tri-Force Commanders, Acting Inspector General of Police, Chairman of Ranaviru Seva Authority, state officials and close relatives of fallen heroes.

Recital of the national anthem, two-minute silence for commemoration, reading the citation of bravery, religious observances, sound of ‘Rana Bera’, vigil mounting, President’s address, floral tributes to the monument and aerial shower of flowers will be among the day’s proceedings of the ceremony.

Coinciding with the commemoration ceremony, 14,617 other ranks of the Sri Lanka Army, eligible for their respective promotions will be elevated to the next rank accordingly.
