President requests all citizens not to be trapped by efforts by interested parties to create unrest in the country

President requests all to engage in their daily activities as usual without getting deceived by the false and misleading statements by the interested groups. He pointed out that the present security situation of the country is in satisfactory level.

The President made these remarks participating in a meeting with the political leaders, public servants, and security officers in Galle, held at the "Dakshina Paya", in Galle, today (12).

This series of events have been organized at provincial and district levels to apprise them regarding the steps that have been taken to ensure the national security as well as to explain the officials and public representatives regarding the assistance that they can provide to the Security Forces.

The Eastern Province and Central Province meetings were held under the patronage of the President.

Ministers and MPs, Local Government representatives and Government Officials participated in today's meeting representing different political parties.

During this meeting, their ideas and suggestions were presented regarding the security process.

President Sirisena, addressing the Galle District meeting, said that certain groups are engaged in an attempt to show that the country was insecure. Therefore, it is an occasion that people should act intelligently as well as with a proper understanding, he added.

The President pointed out about an effort launched to create disharmony among Sinhala and Muslim communities. The President also highlighted the importance of implementing a proper process with the coordination of the all religious leaders, regional political representatives and the public servants to apprise the public not to deceive by false and misleading statements and to conduct their routine activities as usual.

Ministers Vajira Abeywardena, Gayantha Karunatilake, Parliamentarians Mahinda Amaraweera, Chandima Weerakkody, Nishantha Muthuhettigamage, Governor of the Southern Province, Rajitha Keerthi Tennakoon, the Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal De Silva, people's representatives, district secretaries, public servants, Defence Secretary, Gen Shantha Kottegoda, Acting IGP C.D. Wickramarathne and security heads participated on this occasion.

Meanwhile, the President met with the political representatives of the Kalutara district, public servants and security forces officials at the auditorium of the Kalutara District Secretariat.

Minister Rajitha Senarathne, Parliamentarians Kumara Welgama,Mahinda Amaraweera, Jayantha Samaraweera and others participated on this occasion.
