Secretary visits Dalada Maligawa and meets with Chief Prelates of Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters
May 13, 2019Secretary to the Ministry of Defence General SHS Kottegoda (Rtd) WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc visited kandy to pay homage to the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) on Sunday (12 May). The Secretary was received by the Diyawadana Nilame of the Dalada Maligawa, Nilanga Dela Bandara and was accompanied to the inner chamber for the religious formalities.
Subsequently, the Secretary called on the Chief Prelate of the Malwattte Chapter Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero and the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero to receive their blessings.
The venerable Maha Nayaka Theros showered their blessings on the Secretary and also delivered their wise counsel during the meetings.
This is the new Secretary's first visit to the Dalada Maligawa since assuming office as the Secretary of Defence on 29th April (2019).
