Met Department forecasts rainy weather
March 16, 2023According to the latest weather forecast issued by the Met Department, atmospheric conditions are getting favorable for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the island.
The weather update issued today morning (Mar 16) predicts possible showers or thundershowers at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central, North-western and Uva provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and Mannar districts during the afternoon or night.
It says that fairly heavy rainfalls of about 75mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa province and in the Kalutara, Galle and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Coastal areas in the Eastern province may also experience a few showers.
People are kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
