Diyawanna Vesak Zone 2024 continues for Second Day

'Diyawanna Vesak Zone 2024' organized in line with the 'Buddha Rashmi' Vesak festival, commenced this evening (May 24) for the second day in Battaramulla.

Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva and Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage who graced the second day event, switched on the Vesak lanterns and colorful lights at an auspicious time, illuminating Denzil Kobbekaduwa Mawatha and the road leading to the Ministry of Defence.

The significance of the Diyawanna Vesak Zone was heightened by the Bakthi Gee (songs of religious devotion) recitals performed by cultural troupes from the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, and Civil Security Department (CSD).

The Vesak Zone also featured a Vesak Lantern Exhibition, Vesak Dhansal stalls, herbal tea stalls, light decorations, a decorated mobile Bakthi Gee platform, and various other cultural events.

CDS and the Commander along with distinguished guests including Western Province Chief Secretary Ms. Dhammlka K. Wijayasingha took time to walk around the premises, witnessing the colorful display of exhibits at the Diyawanna Vesak Zone.
