MOD Seva Vanitha Unit Hosts Intellectual Session on ‘Women's Social
and Emotional Stability’

In line with the vision of Dr. (Mrs.) Ruvini Rasika Perera, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) at the Ministry of Defence, an intellectual session on ‘Women's Social and Emotional Stability’ was held today (Mar 7) at the ministry auditorium in view of International Women’s Day.
The session featured an insightful lecture by Wing Commander TK Damayanthi (Retd), who shared valuable perspectives on developing social and emotional intelligence. The audience comprised female officers and other ranks from the tri-services, as well as female civilian staff members of the Ministry of Defence.
In conjunction with the program, scholarships were awarded to outstanding achievers, as Savindya Chetasi and Shenudhi Shevenya, daughters of the ministry’s civilian staff, were recognized for their exceptional performance in the Grade 5 scholarship examination. These awards were made possible through the generous patronage of Mrs. Reena Noel and Mrs. Sadamini Perera, Co-Founder and Co-Chairperson of Prime Lands (Pvt) Ltd, who graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
Additionally, a special scholarship was presented to Diseni Dissanayake, a Grade 10 student who has demonstrated remarkable talent in karate at the national level.
The event concluded with the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the esteemed resource persons who contributed to the session’s success. Mrs. Indika Wijegunawardana, Additional Secretary (Civil Security and Development) of the Ministry of Defence, was also in attendance.
