Defence Secretary Meets Pakistani Minister for
Economic Affairs and Army Chief

As part of the on-going defence dialogue, Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) held a side-line meeting on Tuesday (Apr 29) with General Asim Munir, Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan.
Defence Secretary was joined by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, Additional Secretary (Defence) of the Ministry of Defence Mr. Jayantha Edirisinghe, Sri Lanka Army Chief of Staff Major General Chandana Wickramasinge and Sri Lanka AirForce Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera.
On a separate occasion, the Defence Secretary also held a brief discussion with the Hon. Federal Minister for Economic Affairs in Pakistan, Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema.
These meetings highlighted Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening bilateral defence and economic relations with its neighbouring countries and reaffirmed its dedication to promoting regional peace, security and seamless trade cooperation.
