Vietnamese Ambassador Meets Deputy Minister of Defence
July 11, 2025Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Sri Lanka, Mrs. Trinh Thi Tam , met with the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.), today (July 11) at his office in Colombo.
During the cordial meeting, both parties engaged in a meaningful exchange of views on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the defence sector. The Ambassador conveyed her profound appreciation for the successful visit of His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka to Vietnam, as well as the productive engagement in both bilateral and multilateral agreements. She acknowledged the gesture as a reflection of the strong friendship and solidarity shared between the two nations.
Ambassador Trinh Thi Tam also reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to working closely with Sri Lanka to explore opportunities for defence cooperation, capacity building, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
The Deputy Minister of Defence warmly welcomed the Ambassador and expressed appreciation for the longstanding diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. He expressed optimism about further strengthening the partnership, particularly in areas of mutual strategic interest, and looked forward to continued collaboration in the future.
