Egyptian Ambassador Meets the Defence Secretary
September 26, 2025The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sri Lanka, H.E. Adel Ibrahim, paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), at the Ministry of Defence today (26 September).
The Defence Secretary extended a warm welcome to the visiting envoy upon his arrival and they engaged in a cordial discussion. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on expanding avenues of defence cooperation.
Special attention was given to fostering academic and professional exchanges between the defence institutions of the two nations. Ambassador Ibrahim reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to deepening defence ties with Sri Lanka, highlighting opportunities for knowledge-sharing and joint initiatives.
