Sri Lanka Army (SLA) manufactured “Agri Shredder PP1" machine which could be used to pulverize tree leaves and branches in a bid to produce organic fertilizer was launched recently.
The SLA said the machine was innovated by troops of 4 Sri Lanka Army Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) and 5 Corps of Engineer Service (CES).
The machine could be used to pulverize 3.5 metric tons per hour following the cutting of bushes into 10 mm particles, the SLA sources said.
The market value of this type of machine exceeds Rs. 750,000.00, whereas SLEME and CES manufactured it spending about Rs 150,000.00.
It has been designed by Staff Officer1 (Logistics) of Security Forces Headquarters–Jaffna Lt. Col. P.D.L.A.C Sirisena, the Army also said.
