KDU renews research and academic collaboration with the University of Karachi, Pakistan

Major General Milinda Peris, The Vice Chancellor of KDU and Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) and Coordinator General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in a ceremony organized as a hybrid event on 15th September 2021 in the presence of His Excellency Major General Muhammad Saad Khattak, High Commissioner of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, the Defence Advisor of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Colonel Muhammad Safdar and the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Pakistan His Excellency Vice Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama.

The partnership with ICCBS and KDU was a cumulation of friendly relationship which was initiated by the Vice Chancellor of KDU in 2015, with the world known scholar and UNESCO science Laureate Prof. Attar - Ur- Rahman and Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary. The MOU entered into today was implemented at KDU by its research arm KDU-CARE (Combinatorial Advanced Research and Education). Underscoring the importance of the MOU, the Vice Chancellor of KDU stated that “I believe the renewal of this MOU will be a steppingstone for a longer and sustainable journey. These involvements will provide many opportunities for both institutes to enhance their academic status and research activities to reach new heights” High Commissioners of both the countries also spoke at the event.

Senior Professor Dr. Khalid M. Khan, Senior Prof. Dr. Sirajuddin, Senior Prof. Dr. Farzana Shaheen, Senior Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah, Senior Prof. Dr. Syed Abid Ali, Senior Prof. Dr. Syed Ghulam Musharraf, Senior Prof Asmat Salim, Senior Prof Shabana U Simjee, Senior Prof. Dr. Zaheer Ul Haq Qasmi, Senior Prof Dr. Sammer Yousuf, In charge International Linkages of ICCBS Associate Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui participated virtually from Pakistan while the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration), Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Dean Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Director KDU-CARE, Director International Relations, Adjutant and the Registrar participated in person representing KDU.
