SLAF launches the “AIR POWER DOCTRINE”

March 04, 2022

A vital and outstanding requirement was fulfilled under the direction of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana through the launching of an “Air Power Doctrine” today (02 March 2022) at Southern Commander’s Office, SLAF Base Katunayake . This is the culmination of the efforts of professional board comprising expertise which was headed by the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Prasanna Payoe.

The initial copy of the Air Power Doctrine was handed over to Commander of the Air Force by the head of the committee, Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Prasanna Payoe.

A doctrine is commonly a systematical segregation of past experiences for the standardization of present planning in view of future applications. In virtue of this, the SLAF “Air Power Doctrine” was formulated with the lessons learnt over the unique experiences of employment of air power in Sri Lankan context through the 30 years long internal conflict.  This is a supplement to the existing Air Force Doctrine.
