23 Division Troops Coach Youngsters
March 22, 2022Awarding the first opportunity for students to receive Cricket coach training, 233 Brigade HQ of the 23 Division under the Security Force HQ - East spearheaded a coaching session at Vakarai Maha Vidyalaya on Tuesday (15).
Aimed at improving sports skills in Batticaloa district, the Commander, 233 Brigade, Brigadier Wasantha Hewage initiated the Cricket (Hard Ball) coaching session for the students at Batticaloa Vakarai Maha Vidyalaya and Kathiraweli Vigneshwaram Maha Vidyalaya.
Training session was conducted by the Eastern province coach of Sri Lanka Cricket, Mr J.A.M Fazil and Mr P.K Anverdeen. 35 students participated in the session from both schools and the students of Vakarai area got an opportunity to play Hard Ball Cricket for the first time.
The programme was conducted on a suggestion made by Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Lal Chandrasiri. It was supervised by the General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Major General Nalin Koswatte.
Commander, 233 Brigade, Brigadier Wasantha Hewage, Civil Coordinating Officer of 233 Brigade, Second in Command of 6 Gajaba Regiment, Coaching Staffs, Principals and Teachers of both schools joined the event.
