General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) received an English Teaching Assistant through the United States – Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission.
Accordingly, English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Ciara Post arrived at the KDU Southern Campus and is now assisting the second language teaching of the ELTU, the KDU said.
The partnership with the United States – Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission (US- SLFC) has ensured that this is the beginning of a long-standing mutual programme between the two institutions.
The US- SLFC is an independent bi-national commission, established by the Governments of United States and Sri Lanka to foster mutual understanding between the two countries through mutual academic and professional exchanges.
The United States – Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission has been placing English Teaching Assistants in national universities in the island as a customary practice for past few years.
These ETAs are young American citizens qualified in Teaching English for Speakers of other languages from higher education institution in US.
