New State Defence Minister visits differently able war heroes

The State Minister of Defence Hon. Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon paid respect to the nation’s war heroes while placing floral tribute at the National War Hero Cenotaph in Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte today (Sep 14).

Afterwards making his maiden official visit, State Minister Tennakoon arrived at the ‘Mihindu Seth Medura' situated in Attidiya to visit the differently-able war veteran inmates who are being cared for life there.

He also took time to exchange pleasantries with the inmate war veterans and also presented gifts while inquiring into their wellbeing.

The ‘Mihindu Seth Medura', is a healing home for war veterans who were disabled during the terrorist conflict and is a 'Home Away From Home' for the gravely disabled war heroes requiring continuous care, attention and assistance.

State Minister Tennakoon assumed duties as the new State Minister of Defence at the State Ministry of Defence situated at the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) premises in Colombo yesterday.

Senior military officers including Deputy Chief of Staff of Army Maj. Gen. Channa Weerasooriya were present during the State minister’s visit to Mihindu Seth Medura.
