South African Ambassador Calls at SFHQ-J
November 04, 2022High Commissioner of South Africa to Sri Lanka His Excellency Sandile Edwin Schalk paid a courtesy visit to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Monday (31) during a visit to the peninsula.
The Ambassador and accompanying delegation were warmly welcomed by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna on their arrival at the SFHQ-J premises.
The ambassador during cordial discussions that ensued with the Jaffna Commander focused on current engagements of the troops with special focus on Civil-Military cooperation, reconciliation and nation-building tasks. The Jaffna Commander briefed him on ongoing Army-initiated projects and the measures that are being implemented to ensure peace and security in the Peninsula.
Before the departure, the High Commissioner of South Africa left his compliments in the visitors’ book and made a special note, appreciating the Security Forces in Jaffna for their sheer commitment and dedication towards strengthening peace, democracy and justice among the civilians in Jaffna.
Afterwards, the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna and His Excellency the High Commissioner of South Africa exchanged mementos as tokens of goodwill and cooperation.
Colonel General Staff of the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna was also associated with the meeting.
