Defence Ministry ushers in 2019
January 01, 2019Religious observances conducted by the members of the Maha Sangha preceded the day's proceedings. After the hoisting of the National Flag a two minutes' silence was observed to honour the fallen War Heroes. Subsequently all employees of the Ministry took the Government Servant's Oath. Later all those present joined in to partake a traditional breakfast spread.
Additional Secretary (Parliamentary Affairs, Policy & Planning) Mr. PR Rajapaksha, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Navy, Military Liaison Officer, heads of institutes under the Ministry, senior officials and a large number of MoD staff were also present at the occasion.
