The 5 (V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) troops serving the 661 Infantry Brigade of the 66 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ-Mullaittivu with sponsorship provided by a donor who wished to remain anonymous built a new home for a needy family without a proper shelter in Sellipuram village of the Kollakarachchi Grama Seva Division and vested it in the beneficiaries on 3 December 2022.
Navy rescues 04 fishermen including one trapped in capsized trawler

In a dedicated search and rescue operation, Sri Lanka Navy rescued 04 fishermen, including a fisher trapped inside a multiday fishing trawler for 04 days, as their trawler was in distress in south-eastern waters, and rushed them to the Kalmunai Hospital for treatment today (11 December 2022). Reportedly, the fishing trawler had capsized about 46 nautical miles (85km) off the Sangaman Kanda Point, following adverse weather.
