Suspended Chinese Embassy Twitter account restored
April 14, 2020The Twitter account of the Chinese Embassy in Colombo which was suspended yesterday has been restored today, Embassy Spokesman Luo Chong said.
In a press release he said embassy’s official Twitter account @ChinaEmbSL was suspended on April 13 without any specific reason.
“The Embassy made solemn representation twice, requesting to clarify and correct their decision, to avoid any misunderstanding and random association in the public. In the early morning of April 14, Twitter officially replied the Embassy for a ‘systematic mistake,’ apologised and unsuspended the Embassy’s account,” he said in the media release.
In the statements it Is said the Embassy feels regretful that ‘systematic mistake’ and would like to reiterate that ‘freedom of speech’ must be honoured, not misused to spread groundless, racial or hate speech, nor be treated with double standards.
