NOCPCO discusses post COVID exist strategy

Discussions in considering viable post COVID exist strategies was held at the national operation Center for Prevention of COVID -19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) centre yesterday (April 17).

The basis was in making informed decisions based on big-data and available scientific evidences including international expert advises in gradually normalizing the civil life while continuing to suppress the spread of the virus aggressively.

This was the first committee meeting of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) following the New Year.

The meeting was headed by the Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarchchi, Head of the NOCPCO and Commander Sri Lanka Army Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva,  and Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe.

Medical experts of the College of Community Physicians of Sri Lanka submitted a detailed presentation explaining how the current positive developments could be harnessed for normalization of society and economic affairs on a staggered basis.

Representatives of the Government Medical Officers Association also expressed their views on the same lines and underlined the need to expedite PCR tests being conducted across the Quarantine Centres since it is the most productive and proven technique.

According to NOCPCO sources, the discussion outcomes will be forwarded for further scrutiny at the Task Force meetings at the Presidential Secretariat prior implementation.
