Police and NCPA commence probe into alleged attack on autistic child
June 05, 2020Police have commenced investigations into the recent assault on an autistic boy in Aluthgama.
Police Spokesperson Superintendent of Police (SP) Jaliya Senaratne told the defence.lk today (June 5), a two pronged investigation is now in progress into the incident.
“The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) is conducting an investigation while a separate investigation is being carried out by the Kalutara Police on the alleged assault”, he said.
The alleged attack on 16-years-old Thariq Ahamad on May 25, drew public outrage and social condemnation when a video alleged to be a record of the
assault went on viral through social media.
SP Senaratne said stern action would be taken against the perpetrators following the conclusion of the inquiry.
