Soysapura shooting : main suspect dies in police confrontation
June 07, 2020The main suspect of the shooting incident at a restaurant in Soysapura, Moratuwa on May 28, died during an exchange of gunfire with the Police, this morning (June 7).
According to the Police, the suspect had opened fire at Police when the Police attempted to arrest the suspect from his hideout at Dunagaha in Ballapana area, Minuwangoda.
The suspect (50) succumbed to his injuries on admission to Divulapitiya hospital.
The deceased, identified as a key underworld figure had been wanted by the Police for several murders and criminal offences.
Peliyagoda and Kelaniya Police crime divisions, which carried out the raid on a tip- off, are conducting further investigations.
