An injured fisherman on a multiday fishing trawler was brought ashore for treatment with the assistance of the Navy on Saturday (16). Navy media states that the local fisherman had left for fishing onboard the multiday fishing trawler, 'Sanka I' from the Galle fisheries harbour on the 07th (February). He had sustained injury while engaged in fishing in the deep seas.
A Navy Fast Attack Craft (FAC) was rushed to bring ashore the fisherman for treatment after being informed of the incident by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
The FAC had reached the fishing trawler at about 84 nautical miles off the Sangamankanda lighthouse and had rushed to the Hambantota harbour after safety taking onboard the patient.
The patient was subsequently sent to the Hambantota General Hospital for further treatment.
