Police to be tough on those spreading false info on coronavirus positives
July 11, 2020Police will take stern action against persons who are spreading rumours and false information on coronavirus infection and statistics on social media.
Police Spokesman Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne said the Police would take tough action against those rumour mongers after receiving several complaints on social distorting facts and figures posted on social media platforms to mislead the public.
Meanwhile, the Police have requested the public not to be misled by such false information and also to rely on official information on numbers and facts related to coronavirus released by the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) and the Director-General of Government Information, regarding corona patients.
