STF uncovers hoard of military uniforms, arms and ammunition at Walasmulla
July 21, 2020The Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a suspect along with a hoard of military uniforms, weapons and live ammunition during a sting operation conducted at Walasmulla on Monday (July 20).
According to Police, the raid was conducted by the STF personnel attached to the Tangalle camp.
The arrested suspect, a 58 year-old, is said to be a close associate of a wanted underworld criminal ‘Barrel Sunil’.
The items were recovered from a house in Bowala, Walasmulla including a foreign-made hand grenade, a locally made rifle, 103 x T-56 live ammunition, 21 rounds of various types of live ammunition, two swords, a knife, five army camouflage uniforms, camouflage cloths, eight army caps, eight green coloured full uniforms, five camouflage t-shirts, five army lunch boxes and several army badges.
