SLAF training aircraft crashed in Kantale
December 15, 2020A light training aircraft belonging to Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has crashed into a marshy land in Sooriyapura, Kantale today (15 Dec).
The aircraft, which is a ‘Light Fixed Wing PT-6’, took-off from China Bay, on a routine training mission in the evening had crashed according to SLAF sources.
The pilot who was a trainee cadet on-board, on a solo training mission was killed in the crash, SLAF also confirmed.
Neither damages to private properties nor injuries to civil persons were reported.
The SLAF has already sent its teams and is investigating into the incident.
