State Minister looks into the welfare of Katana Veterans’ Home inmates

State Minister of Defence Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, paid a visit to the Veterans’ Home at Bolagala in Katana, yesterday (Oct. 5).

President of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA) Major General Upul Perera (Retd) received the State Minister on his arrival at the home last evening.

This is the maiden visit of the State Minister to the Veterans’ Home which serves as a place of retreat for retired servicemen for many years. During the visit the State Minister inquired into the wellbeing of the Home’s inmates and shared a few thoughts with them.

The visit also served as an occasion for State Minister Tennakoon to announce plans for further investments in veterans’ welfare, including enhanced healthcare services and increased financial support for the development of such accommodation facilities.

Secretary General of SLESA Lt. Col. Ajith Siyambalapitiya (Retd), Chairman of the Veterans’ Home Committee Maj. Gen. Ruwan Wanigasuriya (Retd), Resident Manager of the Veterans’ Home Maj. Ilanga Rajapakshe (Retd), and members of SLESA were also present at the occasion.
