Sri Lanka Coast Guard Headquarters

A Sixteen member (16) delegation comprising representatives from the Australia, Bangladesh, French, India, Kenya, Malagasy Republic, Maldives, Mauritania, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, United States, who are participating in the symposium on women stakeholders in the maritime sector organized in line with "World Ocean Women’s Day" on May 18 undertook an official visit today (May 22 2025) to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Headquarters.
The symposium was organized by the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP), and the Working Group on Maritime Safety and Security (WGMSS).
During this official meeting, an awareness session was conducted regarding the role and interventions of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard in combating various maritime crimes such as illegal migration and drug trafficking carried out through Sri Lanka’s coastal and deep-sea zones.
Furthermore, Deputy Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Commodore Manoj Leelarathna, along with several department heads from the Coast Guard Headquarters, were present at this occasion.
