Indian Naval Ships Bring Relief Supplies to Sri Lanka

December 10, 2025

Four Indian naval vessels, including INS Gharial and three Landing Craft Utility ships (L-51, L-54 and L-57), reached Sri Lanka on 07 and 08 December with humanitarian aid for communities affected by recent severe weather. The Sri Lanka Navy received the ships at the Colombo and Trincomalee ports with customary naval courtesies.

The relief consignment, coordinated by the High Commission of India, was formally handed over in the presence of Indian High Commissioner H.E. Santosh Jha, Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe, senior naval officers and government officials. The aid supports Sri Lanka’s ongoing disaster relief efforts and reflects the strong bilateral cooperation between the two nations, states SL Navy media.
