Army well-made for hostage rescue missions

A large number of officers and other ranks of the Sri Lanka Army’s Commando Regiment (CR) received their insignia during the graduation ceremony held yesterday (7 April) at the Regimental Centre in Ganemulla upon successful completion of Hostage Rescue and Counter Terrorism Induction Course and Advanced War Dog Course.

The Chief of Defence Staff and the Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Colonel of the Regiment of the CR and Security Forces Mullaitivu Commander Maj. Gen. Upali Rajapaksha.

Accordingly, 56 Commandos in Hostage Rescue and Counter Terrorism Induction Course No-28 and 32 other ranks in Advanced War Dog Course No-9 passed out during the ceremony.

The specialized commandos of both courses staged a demonstration during the occasion witnessed by a large number of senior officers including the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Commandant.
