Areas to be isolated and closure of schools
April 26, 2021Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID - 19 Outbreak, the Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva announced that a decision has been taken to isolate several Grama Niladhari (GN) Divisions in three districts with effect from 8.00 p.m. today (April 26) in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Accordingly, Polhena, Heeralugedara and Kaluaggala GN Divisions in Kotadeniyawa Police area and Aswennawatta East GN Division in Minuwangoda Police area in Gampaha District will be isolated from 8.00 p.m. tonight until further notice.
Miriswatta, Pelawatta North and East GN Divisions in Meegahatenna Police area in Kalutara District will also be isolated.
Poompuhar Grama Niladhari Division in Trincomalee District will also be isolated at the same time.
Furthermore, Dambulla Economic Centre will also be isolated with effect from 8.00 p.m. today.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to close all schools in the Western Province and North Western Province till Friday (Apr 30) according to the Education Minister Prof. G.L Peiris.
Accordingly, the state schools, pre-schools and Piriven in the Western Province and North Western Province will be closed.
