Travel restrictions come into effect tonight
May 21, 2021A countrywide travel restriction will be imposed from tonight (11.00 p.m.) and it will be lifted at 4.00 a.m. on Tuesday (May 25).
Again the same restriction will be imposed from Tuesday 11.00 p.m. and will be lifted on May 28 at 4.00 a.m., said the Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva.
However, essential services, food vendors and those transporting fruits and vegetables in lorries are allowed to continue their work adhering to healthcare guidelines.
Pharmacies have been instructed to be kept open to facilitate urgent medical requirements, he explained.
According to Gen. Silva those who are visiting hospitals or pharmacies will be allowed to travel to their destination and return.
