Sri Lanka Army (SLA) rescued a family affected by earth slips at the Dumbara Ihalapola in Ratnapura yesterday (June 4).
According to the Army sources, troops of 8 Gemunu Watch swiftly arrived at the scene yesterday had cleared slipped debris amidst torrential rains and had rescued a 50-year old female trapped in a mound of earth.
The ill-fated patient was directed to the Kiriella Hospital following the rescue, the SLA also said.
Further, the troops have recovered a dead body of a 17-year old girl victimized to the disaster and also another 60-year old victim who is suspected to be buried alive at the time of earth slip.
Troops continue in the mission in coordination with the villagers and the regional authorities, the SLA said.
