Army jabs Western Province teachers

The Army medical teams while continuing the vaccination drive commenced the inoculation for education sector staffers in the Western Province at the Colombo Army Hospital yesterday (July 12).

The first dose of Sinopharm was administered to a few thousands of teachers and the other staffers in the Colombo Education Zone, Western Province during the session.

The project mooted to vaccinate the education sector plans to cover all the districts within two weeks, the Army said.

The Army’s vaccination drive commenced for educational sector employees recently with the jabbing of Maharagama National Institute of Education staffers following the directives of HE the President.

Hon. Prof. G.L Peiris, Minister of Education was also present at the programme held yesterday, the Army sources said.

Hon. Susil Premajayantha (MP), State Minister of Education Reforms, Open Universities and Distance Learning Promotion, Hon. Dr. Seetha Arambepola (MP), State Minister of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research and Innovation, Prof K. Kapila Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Education and Gen. Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander were also present at the programme.
