Vaccination of AstraZeneca 2nd dose begins

The Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) teams commenced the vaccination of the second dose of AstraZeneca (Covishield) at the Viharamaha Devi Park Open Theatre, Colombo today (Aug 1) on the directives given by the President.

Accordingly, the Viharamaha Devi Park vaccination centre will be open round the clock today and tomorrow.

The vaccination programme will also commence at the Battaramulla ‘Diyatha Uyana’, round the clock from Aug 2 onwards until Wednesday, the Army said.

Further, the vaccination centres at Narahenpita Army Hospital, Panagoda Bodhi Rajaramaya (Army Temple) and Werahera Army Medical Corps Camp will remain operational from today from morning to evening.

Similarly, the vaccination centres at Kelaniya Dharmashoka Vidyalaya, Kadawatha Kirillawala Central College and Negombo Mari Stella College in the Gampaha district will continue to vaccinate the second dose for all those who received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine earlier, the Army sources confirmed.

The general public expecting to receive the jab are advised to bring their Vaccination Card plus the National Identity Card, the Army stated.

National vaccination drive continues as per instructions of the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva.
