Navy nabs Rs. 24 million worth of ICE with 3 suspects
November 16, 2021Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed Rs. 24 million worth of ICE (Crystal Methamphetamine) along with 3 suspects during a special operation conducted at seas off the Sandbanks in Talaimannar yesterday (Nov 15).
Navy sources said, 03 kilos and 100 grams of ICE was seized while being transported in a dinghy by the suspects.
Accordingly, the consignment of drugs along with the suspects and the dinghy used for the illegal drug smuggling racket were taken into naval custody.
The SLN says the street value of the seized haul of narcotics would be over Rs. 24 million.
The suspects, residents of Pesalai area were handed over to the Talaimannar Police together with the items seized for onward legal proceedings, the SLN added.
